The hospitality industry lost one of its most prestigious leaders last week with the passing of David Feder, Vice President and Managing Director of the Trump National Doral Miami since 2014. Prior to his position at Trump National Doral, Feder presided over several top-tier resorts, including the Boca Resort & Club, Fontainebleau, Arizona Biltmore and Turnberry Isle in Miami. Feder has also held executive positions at other properties, including The Breakers in Palm Beach, the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco and the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens.

His vision and his leadership were steadfast and strong. In a story about Feder published in International Opulence Magazine, he stated his philosophy of hotel operation: “If it’s legal, moral and the guests want it and will pay for it, we should do it. If you have that philosophy, you don’t determine the product, the clients determine the product. It’s a market-driven strategy with the ultimate objective of delivering a luxurious and memorable experience.  Our service and attention to detail have to be second to none.”

Feder also served on the Resort Committee for the American Lodging & Hotel Association and held a governor appointed position on the Board of Trustees for Florida Atlantic University. In addition, he presided over the Palm Beach Hotel Association and received the Palm Beach International Film Festival Founder’s Award.

We were grateful to call David family over the years and appreciate his contributions to our industry.  We will greatly miss our friend!
